Regional conference of national institutions protecting human rights of Central Asian countries was held

Authorized representative on human rights in Turkmenistan - Adalatchy Yazdursun Gurbannazarova, representative of the Court of Adalatchy and head of the committee on protection of human rights and freedoms of the National Council of Turkmenistan participated in the Regional meeting of national institutions protecting human rights of Central Asian countries held in Istanbul.

The event was organized by the Central Asia Regional Office of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Regional Office of the United Nations Development Program within the framework of the Initiative for Assistance to National Human Rights Institutions in Central Asia (CASI/NHRI).

As part of the meeting, the participants of the event discussed the priorities for the national human rights institutions, including: the issues related to obtaining accreditation in the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) and participation in the UN human rights protection mechanisms. Also, one of the main topics of the conference was the role of national human rights institutions in the promotion and protection of human rights in the context of regional challenges, namely human rights violations due to business and climate change.
